José Mourinho claims he will ‘coach in Saudi Arabia one day’ but insists he will give his all for Roma ‘until the last day.’

The Special One has released an interview with elhekayashow saying he will work for a Saudi club one day.

“I am focused on Roma and I will give my all until the last day I am here. Nobody knows the future, but I am convinced I will coach in Saudi Arabia one day,” said the Portuguese coach as quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio.

“I don’t know when, but I am quite sure it’s something I’ll surely do.”

Mourinho’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires in June 2024 and there are no reports of ongoing talks between the club and the coach to extend their agreement.

On the contrary, Corriere dello Sport claimed on Saturday that Roma would sack the Special One if Roma lost to Cagliari on Sunday, but the Giallorossi denied the report.

Talking about a possible future move to Saudi Arabia, Mourinho added: “I think it’s the Cristiano Ronaldo effect. He was the first one to go there and change the perspective. It is proved by the fact that players going there are not at the end of their careers, but in their best years. Competition is real in Saudi Arabia.”

Mourinho joined Roma in 2021 and won the Conference League with the Giallorossi in his first season at the club, reaching the Europa League Final in 2022-23.

The ex-Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United coach has only won two Serie A games from the opening seven this season collecting eight points.
