José Mourinho is set to leave Roma with immediate effect, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The Portuguese coach was rumoured to be on the brink following Roma’s 3-1 loss against Milan on Sunday night and Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims the Special One will leave the Stadio Olimpico

“José Mourinho and Roa part ways with immediate effect, it’s over,” wrote Romano on X, formerly Twitter.

The Giallorossi sit 9th in the Serie A table with 29 points, five below fourth-placed Fiorentina. They have scored 32 goals and conceded 24 in the opening 20 games league matches.

Last week, they were eliminated at the hands of city rivals Lazio from the Coppa Italia quarter-finals and fans have been criticising the team for the first time since Mourinho’s appointment in 2021,

The Portuguese tactician surprisingly moved to the capital in 2021, signing a three-year contract.

He won the Conference League in his first season at the club and lost the Europa League Final last term. He didn’t reach the top four in any of his two seasons in the capital.

His contract with Roma was due to expire in June, and talks to extend his stay at the club had not yet begun.
