Reports in England suggest Roma coach Jose Mourinho wants a reunion with his Manchester United player Fred, but the €20m asking price is a big problem.

According to Sun Sport, Mou is a big fan of Fred’s approach to the game and has asked director of sport Tiago Pinto to put him on the list of midfield reinforcements.

However, there are numerous reasons why that would be unlikely to happen.

The Brazilian is already 30 years old and is down to the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

That means he will not be able to join Roma on loan with an option to buy, as the €20m asking price – and his current wages – are too much for the Giallorossi to handle.

Manchester United purchased Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for €59m in the summer of 2018 and he has made 213 appearances for the club, contributing 14 goals and 19 assists.

That includes six goals and six assists in 56 competitive games this season.

His time working under Mourinho was short-lived with only 12 matches in 2018 until the coach was sacked.
