Reggina, the team with Pippo Inzaghi as their coach, have reportedly been excluded from Serie B for financial irregularities, so Brescia and Pescara hope to get a reprieve.

The club has been struggling for some time with huge debts and economic problems, but still managed to finish seventh despite being docked points.

However, today the Covisoc confirmed there were too many issues with outstanding taxes and other irregularities in the paperwork presented.

It means they will not be allowed to register for the 2023-24 Serie B season and, if they lose the final appeal to the Federal Counsel, Reggina must start again from the amateur divisions.

This would also open up a slot in Serie B and there are two clubs in the running for it.

Massimo Cellino’s Brescia lost the relegation play-out to Cosenza and already lodged a formal appeal for readmission to Serie B, while Pescara are pushing to get a step up from Serie C.

Lecco also face problems registering for the Serie B season after earning promotion from Serie C for the first time in 50 years, as their stadium does not meet requirements for the second division.

They presented paperwork to use the Stadio Euganeo in Padova, but slightly later than the deadline.
