The former Juventus, Italy and Chelsea tactician is currently out of work during his legal battle with the Stamford Bridge side for unfair dismissal.

There are increasing reports that initial talks have begun with Conte to replace Eusebio Di Francesco at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I think he’d be suited to Roma, as he wants to be at the top and win,” ex-Roma player Moriero told Radio Centro Suono Sport.

“If he starts a season, then Antonio is an extra bonus, as he is one of the best Coaches in the world. If he goes to a club, it’s because he wants to win.

“I have lived in Rome and played for Roma, so I know what it requires here. I spoke to him over the summer, as we vacation together and he is like a brother to me. I think Antonio, next season or whenever it is, would like to be the Coach of Roma, because it’s an adventure that intrigues him.

“Knowing him well, he’d want to start from pre-season and it’d also depend on the club’s projects, because he has always worked with great players.”

Di Francesco has booked Roma’s spot in the Champions League Round of 16, but recent setbacks in Serie A put his position at risk.

“I think that at this moment, Eusebio is doing the best he can with a very young team,” continued Moriero.

“When things don’t go well, the Coach is the one to pay the price, but I consider him a fine person, Coach and communicator, someone who lives to help Roma. I think he deserves more faith in him.”
