Massimo Moratti has denied that he will be making a move for Barcelona’s departing Coach Pep Guardiola this summer.

The Spaniard, who has previously been linked with a switch to Italian football and to Inter, announced today his intention to leave his Catalan employers at the end of the season.

However, Moratti does not believe he will be coming to the peninsula this summer, instead taking the opportunity today to once again encourage the belief that Andrea Stramaccioni will be on Inter’s bench next season.

“I think Guardiola will take a break,” Moratti told reporters in Milan.

“For the future I am thinking only about Stramaccioni, who has done very well. Against Cagliari and Fiorentina, although they did not go well, he had courage and this is what I do not regret at all.”

Moratti has also been linked with a move for former Coach Leonardo, but to return to the club as a technical director.

“That all depends on the development we want to give the club. We need to look around, for him as for others, but I don't think Leonardo will return.”

The President was also asked for comment on Juventus’ reported intention to add a third star to their shirts should they win the Scudetto this season.

Stars are traditionally sewn on for every 10 League titles won, and whilst that is a figure the club will reach for on-pitch titles, they would officially only be winning title number 28 this season, after the Calciopoli rulings stripped them of two Scudetti in 2006.

“We have to wait and see if FIGC accepts this challenge…it becomes a matter of common sense [from Juventus].

“It’s something that makes little sense, for the moment it seems just like an act of provocation. However, Juve is doing well on the field and is leading with respect.”
