Massimo Moratti says Frank De Boer will need at least one month before he can be judged, whilst discussing Inter's mercato.

The former president was at the launch of a graphic novel dedicated to Nerazzurri icon Giacinto Facchetti, and he was interviewed on the Dutchman's slow start in the championship.

“Not just in Italy, but abroad too, I've been reading criticisms that are frankly exaggerated,” Moratti said, as reported by FcInterNews.it. “But he came 20 days before the end of the market, with the training preparation already ongoing.

“If we're going to be intellectually honest, he must be given at least another month before we can pass judgment on his work.

“For his own part, he must work not to create supplementary criticisms for himself. That's why he needs to be properly counselled by those around him and his staff. And he'll have to understand Italian football by studying his opponents.”

Moratti also discussed Inter's two last-minute signings, Joao Mario and Gabigol.

“The former is a great signing, the latter is an extremely interesting youngster, an investment for the future. Perhaps we're short of a defender, but it wasn't easy to find one of the right level. And I'm super-happy that Mauro Icardi decided to stay.”
