Barcelona and Santos are at each other's necks over the transfer of Gabigol to Inter.

The Catalan club claim that they had a privileged purchase right for the talented youngster, and are unhappy about that transaction right not being honoured.

Santos defend themselves by saying that Barcelona had been made aware of an impending sale to Inter.

Their argument is allegedly backed by a document, dated August 29, in which they inform the Blaugrana of their intention to sell Gabigol to the Biscione.

“Barcelona can do what they like,” said Santos president Modesto Roma, as reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport. “Let's not forget that they say they don't have to pay our €2m included in the deal for Neymar [as conditional clauses].”

Santos and Barcelona may take their disagreement to the courts, while Inter themselves are thankfully unaffected, and they run no risks of losing the Brazilian.
