Inter President Massimo Moratti commented on losing Antonio Cassano, continuing talks with Erick Thohir and cutting the budget.

The patron spoke to journalists after leaving the Board of Directors meeting in Milan this evening.

“We reduced the wage bill by €80m. Our accounts have improved, although they’d have been even better if we had qualified for the Champions League. It’s a pity.”

The Nerazzurri failed to qualify for Europe at all, but are in negotiations with Indonesian businessman Thohir over a partial takeover bid.

“Talks are continuing and both parties want to finalise everything. We want to do something positive for Inter.”

Moratti confirmed a deal with Parma is practically done, handing over Cassano and Matias Silvestre on loan plus €10m cash for Ishak Belfodil.

“It is a shame to be losing Cassano and we’ll regret him, as he had very special characteristics. Belfodil is very close to joining us.

“It’s true we are negotiating with Juventus for Mauricio Isla, although there are other names in the hat too.”

The President hinted that Fredy Guarin could be sold, as he has received offers from Manchester United, Tottenham and Anzhi.

“It is possible we could sell an important player, as every club thinks about that. We will try to ensure there are no big sacrifices in terms of performance.”

Today Carlos Tevez arrived in Turin to complete his transfer from Manchester City to Juventus, so will he make the Bianconeri unbeatable?

“He is a great signing, a player of real character, grit and experience, but nobody is unbeatable. Inter wanted Tevez in the past, but considering the very high wages we have no regrets.”
