Former Inter President Massimo Moratti admits it’s “not easy” for Roberto Mancini against Juventus tonight.

The Nerazzurri are trailing 3-0 after the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final, and will look to overturn the result at San Siro tonight.

“It’s certainly a bit annoying to have to play them again now,” Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Unless we win 5-0 it doesn’t make much sense, even if we have everything to gain. It’s not easy for Mancini to prepare for this one, I don’t envy him right now.

“They [Juventus] are strong, above all in terms of character. They’ve always shown what we’ve been waiting to see from Inter in certain matches.

“Inter have been rebuilt recently, in terms of the Coach, the players, the club so it’s more understandable than in another situation.”

Mancini’s side have fallen 13 points behind the defending champions in Serie A, and Moratti admits it’s a difficult period for the Beneamata.

“I don't think I've ever seen such a convoluted situation, and with someone as experienced and capable as Mancini…

“Every story has its motives, I think in these cases the only thing that can make you stronger is humility, strength comes from that.

“It’s all in the mind: pride, passion…

“There hasn’t been a reaction, or that’s how it seems to me. It’s a time where there’s a general slump and I hope it’ll be resolved.

“It’s strange, because Mancini has the qualities to resolve certain things, to organise them, to put them in a position to overcome the problem.

“I won’t put the blame on him, but the recovery has to come from him. He has to find some calm.

“Mancini is the right person. He’s close to the players, if he can inject a bit of calm then the situation will improve, even if the games come one-after-the-other and might not give you time to have peace of mind if they don’t go well.

“But if we can overcome Palermo on Sunday, that might be enough, it would give us a bit of breathing space again.

“Will Mancini leave without Champions League qualification? It’s not up to me to decide something like that.

“It’s up to the club. I hope he can rebuild because he has quality.”
