The tactician was promoted from the youth team set-up last March, but there are suggestions that he may be shown the door if the side again fail to qualify for the Champions League.
“I can’t reason in the same way with him as with more mature Coaches,” Moratti told Tuttosport in a revealing interview.
“Stramaccioni comes with many advantages and it would be a shame if he was burned because of temporary situations.
“That’s why I’m very aware of the fact that I don’t want to throw him away.”
Moratti, though, has underlined how important returning to Europe’s most prestigious club competition is.
“We lost €30m in revenue,” he stated when asked about the cost of last season’s failure to finish in the top three. “That competition is the base from which we need to work from.”
One name linked with Stramaccioni’s job has been Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho, the man who led the Beneamata to an historic treble in 2010.
“The affection remains between us. He was recently interviewed where he said ‘us Interisti’ and I can imagine that Real were not impressed.
“However, his return is not possible.”
Turning to the playing staff, Moratti expects Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, Diego Milito and Walter Samuel to still be at Inter next season. Sampdoria’s Mauro Icardi could join them.
“He should be ours if we can do a deal with Sampdoria. I think he’ll do well with us.
“The failed signing of John Carew? He’s a good guy, but it would have taken him at least a month to get into shape and the season is coming to a close.”
Moratti also underlined how keen he is to build his own stadium, but admitted that he’ll need financial help.
“I’m looking for partners, but I’ll remain with at least 51 per cent. Building stadiums is not my job, but the Americans are exceptional at this and an American investor would be interesting.
“I’ve been presented with a number of stadium projects and I’m intrigued by one of them. The arena needs to be a functional one in the style of the city.
“Would I sell Inter? I’ve thought about it. It would have to be at the right time, but then I think about the fans who have faith in me. I then tell myself that I can’t trick them.”
Moratti also used the interview to speak well of Andrea Agnelli, the President of historical rivals Juventus.
“I love Andrea,” he stated. “He’s young, a gentleman and good. He inherited Juventus at a time of great difficulty.
“In two years he’s got them back to winning the Scudetto, actually two in three years as I’m sure they’ll win it again.
“He puts his heart and soul into the club, that’s a family duty. There is affection between us.”
