It has been a better season than anyone could have imagined for the home side. But these Monza vs. Roma predictions suggest it could be the visitors that come away happier on Wednesday.

Monza vs. Roma odds

1 – Roma to win – 1/1

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 8/13

3 – Both teams not to score – 3/4

4 – Roma to win and under 2.5 goals – 3/1

5 – Roma to win to nil – 9/4

Monza could have already secured their top-flight status for next season by the time this game comes around on Wednesday. That would be a huge achievement for a club that had never played in Serie A before and were the favourites for the drop pre-season.

After a shaky start to the campaign, Raffaele Palladino steadied the ship and has overseen a turnaround that sees Monza happily in mid-table. Recent wins against Inter and Fiorentina have shown that their position is not by fluke and it will be interesting to see what will happen at the Stadio Brianteo next season.

As well as Monza have played this season, the foot may be off the pedal now though, giving Roma a better chance of picking up three vital points.

Jose Mourinho will be as pragmatic as ever – and look to contain the hosts before claiming the victory without too much attacking verve. But a Roma win must be the most likely outcome here, even if a lot of goals should probably not be expected.

It remains to be seen if Paulo Dybala will be fit for this one after injuring an ankle against Atalanta. He was set to sit out the clash with Milan at the weekend and could well be rested for the trip to Monza as well.

Mourinho does have an ever-growing injury list to deal with but he will be disappointed if his Roma side don’t come away with all three points on Wednesday, as they chase a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.

Monza team news

Raffaele Palladino should have little in the way of injury worries for this one, so will need to decide whether to start Stefano Sensi in the middle or not. He may be tempted to keep the same starting XI that has been doing so well recently and hope to contain a talented Roma side.

Roma team news

More defensive injuries mean Jose Mourinho may have to bring back Marash Kumbulla and he may recall Leonardo Spinazzola on the left as well. If Paulo Dybala does miss out up front, Tammy Abraham could get another start, although Andrea Belotti will be pushing for a chance too.
