According to Sportitalia, Monza have made an offer to sign Luis Suarez as a free agent.

The newly-promoted side are on the lookout for a new centre forward and reports in Italy have linked Silvio Berlusconi’s club to star strikers such as Mauro Icardi, Paulo Dybala, Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez.

According to Sportitalia, club director Adriano Galliani has directly contacted the Uruguay international, offering him a €5m-a-year deal.

Suarez came close to joining Juventus in the summer of 2020 but the Bianconeri turned to Alvaro Morata before the beginning of investigations over alleged irregularities in Suarez’s Italian citizenship test.

Juventus have recently been cleared of all allegations.

Suarez is available as a free agent after his contract with Atletico Madrid expired. The 35-year-old has reportedly rejected an offer from River Plate and is considering Galliani’s proposal.

Monza have moved quickly on the transfer, having already secured the services of Alessio Cragno, Andrea Carboni, Stefano Sensi, Matteo Pessina, Andrea Ranocchia and Samuele Birindelli.

They are also close to getting former Sassuolo defender Marlon on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk.
