Newly-promoted Monza remain very active, set to secure Gianluca Caprari from Verona, Juventus midfielder Filippo Ranocchia and potentially Napoli striker Andrea Petagna too.

This will be their first ever Serie A season, but the combined backing of former Milan chiefs Adriano Galliani and Silvio Berlusconi mean Monza are aiming very high indeed and have been probably the busiest club in Italy this summer.

According to multiple reports including Sky Sport Italia, Monza have a deal for Verona forward Caprari, who is expected to have his medical tomorrow.

It will be a loan deal with obligation to buy if they manage to consolidate their Serie A status at the end of the season.

The total cost of the operation is believed to be €7m.

It is a coup for the man who turns 29 later this month, because Caprari recently received his senior Italy debut and last season contributed 12 goals with seven assists in 35 Serie A appearances for Hellas.

Meanwhile, Monza are also edging closer to an agreement for Juventus youth product Filippo Ranocchia, who just finished a loan spell with Vicenza.

It will cause some confusion, because Monza already signed ex-Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia – no relation.

Monza also continue to push for Napoli centre-forward Petagna, although the Partenopei do not seem prepared to let him leave.

  1. Only Berlusconi has a sinere interest in developing and signing Italian talent!

Hopefully Monza remain in Seria A and ccx qualify for Euro competitions.
