The 30-year-old made just 10 appearances in the League, but after an operation to remove the pins in his leg, insists he’ll be ready for next season.

“I’m working hard at Milanello to be ready for July,” Montolivo assured Milan Channel.

“I need to regain muscle tone, I’m working hard to recover and be ready for the training camp. My leg now feels the way it did before the injury.

“That’s important for a player, I’m now convinced that I’ve come full circle after the operation in May. I hope I can get back to my best soon.”

The former Fiorentina man also reflected on last season, and promises the Diavolo will do better when Serie A resumes.

“There’s a huge desire for revenge after a disappointing season. The club is working to strengthen the team, and top players are always helpful.

“There’s a huge sense of responsibility among the players, we feel indebted to the fans, it’s up to us to get them to come back and fill the stadium.”
