“He [Destro] is a great striker,” Montolivo told Milan Channel.

“He’s shown that in recent years. We hope he comes in and can help us.

“Hopefully he can score the goals to get us out of the situation we’re in.

“We have to take things one game at a time. We can get back into the race for Europe, it’s down to us. We have to solve our problems, and we have everything we need to succeed.

“We must all stand united, none of us is happy, we’re all angry.

“The only solution is to work, and stick together. I must thank the fans again for the support they’re giving us, no matter what.

“That’s very important for the team. We promise we’ll get through this spell.”

The playmaker also spoke about another new signing, Salvatore Bocchetti.

“He’s an excellent player, and a great guy.

“We experienced the 2010 World Cup together. He can help us, and he has international experience.”
