However, the Florence edition of La Repubblica reports of a meeting between the former Roma striker and President Andrea Della Valle in which the Coach confirmed his decision to stay.
The publication also reports that the Coach suggested his stay was contingent on his continued control over the team, including in the transfer market.
Montella has a contract with Fiorentina until June 2017, with a €5m clause required to rescind the contract.
