“In football anything can happen,” noted Montella in a Press conference. “That includes a change of management with only a few rounds left in the season. It’s nothing new.
“Brocchi is a well-prepared Coach, so we will take the necessary counter-measures. We’ll try to avoid letting our opponents create dangerous situations, limiting the capability of their trequartista.
“There are some changes based on the movement of the ball and seeking passes, but in my view there is only a subtle difference between one system and another.”
Sampdoria must go into Marassi without ex-Milan star Cassano, Carlos Carbonero, Jacopo Sala, David Ivan and suspended Andrea Ranocchia.
“Cassano interrupted the training session with a slight problem and he won’t be able to play tomorrow. It’s a shame, as last Sunday when he came off the bench he provided two or three important assists.
“We have to be very wary of Mario Balotelli, as he’s a forward who can pull something out of the hat, including on set plays.”
Sampdoria are eight points clear of the relegation zone, but Montella won’t stand for complacency.
“In my view we aren’t safe yet. I don’t like the word ‘conquer,’ as I’ve heard it too many times this season, but we must reach the objective for our fans and this club.”
