Vincenzo Montella is “very proud” of his Fiorentina side and the arrival of Giuseppe Rossi, but warns against Pescara’s counter-attacks.

“Signing Rossi was a real coup,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“This is a talent we hope to recover for the end of the season and we will wait until he has completed his rehabilitation.

“This is a sign that the club is operating well on the transfer market and knows how to convince the players by giving them motivation and ambitious targets.

“Rossi had the choice between several different clubs, but he chose Fiorentina and that makes me very proud.”

The former Villarreal star won’t be fit until mid-March, so the Viola must take on Pescara today with the squad already at their disposal. Click here for a match preview.

“I have to say that everyone returned from the Christmas break with good fitness levels, a sign they followed the instructions given by our staff,” continued Montella.

“Pescara know how to defend even with seven men behind the ball, but when they win back possession then they can hurt you on the counter-attack. They have interesting players, such as Vladimir Weiss.”

Montella was asked about Kevin-Prince Boateng walking off in protest at racist chants during a friendly between Milan and Pro Patria this week. However, the Neapolitan noted there is a culture of personal insults in Italy that should be confronted.

“At times discrimination isn’t just based on the colour of your skin, but also your origins. We must therefore highlight all of these incidents.”

Earlier this season a journalist working for RAI in Turin was sacked after asking Juventus fans if they could identify visiting Napoli supporters “by their smell.”
