The Rossoneri face Bayern Munich in China tomorrow as part of the International Champions Cup, and the Coach spoke in a Press conference today.

“We’re a team under construction, but not yet complete,” Montella explained to the assembled media.

“I talk about this. every day with the club. They’ve already had a fantastic transfer campaign.

“It must be said that many lads came from foreign Leagues, and they’re also very young. As the sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli has said, we’re looking for the right profiles.

“Objectives? We have to aim for the Champions League places. It will be long work, but we have to run quickly toward creating a team with the principles of play I have in my head.

“I think we have enough time to arrive at important levels.”

The Rossoneri lost to Borussia Dortmund in their first Chinese friendly, but Montella isn’t overly concerned.

“When I evaluate the team I don’t do it by positions, but as a collective. With respect to the game with Dortmund we did some things well, other things less well.

“For example, we’re still too stretched on the pitch, we need the team to be more compact.

“Will the new players play against Bayern? I don’t know, we’ll see. They’ve made a long journey and they only trained yesterday.

“This is an exciting challenge, I’m sure we’ll do our best to get a result.”
