Edin Dzeko says new Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco “has clear ideas” and assures “I’m sure we’ll do well”.

Luciano Spalletti left at the end of last season to take over at Inter, with the former Sassuolo Coach returning to the club with whom he won the Scudetto as a player.

“Di Francesco has clear ideas on how to play,” Dzeko said, speaking to Roma TV from Boston.

“We need to listen to him and learn from him. By doing that I’m sure we’ll do well. We know the boss, because we saw what he did when he was at Sassuolo.

“They played nice football and now he wants to do the same here with us.

“We’re still at the beginning, some important players have left but others have arrived, I’m sure they’re strong players and I’ve had the chance to see them in recent days here.

“Maybe others will arrive, always strong ones. I’m sure Roma will be as strong as last year, if not stronger.

“Returning to the Champions League is always nice, because it’s the most beautiful competition in the world. We’re happy to be playing in it again and we need to prepare well.

“We want to do well in the Champions League, as well as in Serie A and the Coppa Italia. We’re working hard during pre-season, because there are so many games ahead of us.

“Other Serie A teams have strengthened, and we’ll be facing strong teams. I think the Italian League will be even more beautiful than last year.”

Dzeko was capocannoniere last season, and he’s aiming to continue his form into the coming campaign.

“Last season was a very nice one for me, with a lot of goals, so I want to pick up where I left off.

“That means scoring a lot of goals again, although it could be difficult to get so many. I’m doing well here in the US though with the team, so I can get off on the right foot.

“I don’t want to be too calm, because then you can start thinking it’ll be easier when in fact it’ll be harder.

“What I can say is that next season will be easier than the others because my teammates know me better and I have a better knowledge of what they’ll do.

“Does Gregoire Defrel’s arrival lift the burden on me? Last year I played 51 games, which is a lot but I always want to play.

“It’s nice that we’ve signed another striker though, in fact we’ve taken Defrel who is a strong player and one who I like personally.

“I’m also happy for Roma, who have taken a player who will help them in the future. Obviously the boss will decide everything, but I think we can both play together, it’s not a problem.”
