Vincenzo Montella says that Milan 'must return to our home in Europe', stressing that this was the priority over a short-term stint at the top of the league.

The Rossoneri take on Genoa tomorrow night at the Marassi, and the ex-Fiorentina man was keen to not let any euphoria from Saturday's win over Juventus ruin his side's focus.

"The mood of the two teams is different: it will be a very difficult game, both tactically and mentally." Montella told his pre-match press conference. "If you do not prepare well you can find great difficulties.

"It will be necessary to have all the energy available and then add the technical part, where we have something more than them. Enthusiasm brings you a few more points, but euphoria takes them away.

"The victory against Juve, who have been invincible in recent years, gives us a lot of self-esteem. I was pleased with the defensive organisation, [Gabriel] Paletta and [Alessio] Romagnoli did great things.

"They complement each other well, one is an old head and the other one is younger. the defensive play is improving, starting from the attackers.

"Are we the anti-Juve? No, we really mustn’t think that. Juventus are an invincible team again this year. I like to be optimistic and sincere, I don’t want to be negative.

"We have to think about a return to Europe, to our home. We must not fall into the trap of thinking about first place just for one night.

"Genoa are a very misunderstood team and difficult to deal with During the match [Ivan Juric] manages to upset everything from a tactical point of view.

"When I went to dinner at [Silvio] Berlusconi’s house he told me about his dream of training with 11 out of 11 Italians in this Milan side, perhaps with someone new. I was also in agreement on this, I see so many Italians in this team."
