Milan have lined up the Argentine as a back-up should they fail to net Carlos Tevez from Manchester City, but a host of other Serie A sides are also keen on the striker.

“Nothing has been decided yet in relation to Maxi Lopez,” the former Roma striker and boss told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We have director Pietro Lo Monaco here at this club who is in charge of making those kind of decisions.”

Yesterday Genoa admitted an interest in the South American once the January transfer window opens for business.
