According to La Marseillaise, President Jacques-Henri Eyraud has already contacted several tacticians who could potentially take over for next season.

Christophe Galtier remains the favourite, but he is also in talks with Herve Renard, former Lazio and England manager Eriksson and ex-Milan and Fiorentina boss Montella.

Montella will turn 46 next month and was sacked by Fiorentina in December 2019 after a disastrous run of results.

The last time Montella completed a full season was at Sampdoria in 2015-16, followed by early dismissals at Milan, Sevilla and Fiorentina.
