“I believe! I know it won’t be easy, it’ll be very difficult, but we have to believe,” Monchi told Mediaset Premium.
They need a 3-0 result, which was already earned against Barcelona in the quarter-finals.
“We’ll see what the result is, but before the game begins, we all have faith that it can be done. I think before Barcelona, there was less faith that we could do it. Now we know it can be done, but the truth is it’s more difficult.
“Perhaps at Sevilla it was more personal, but I am very proud to be here and it’s a reward for our hard work. If we do get there to Kiev, it’ll be difficult to tell the story in future. It’ll be a dream come true.”
Coach Eusebio Di Francesco scrapped the three-man defence and returned to 4-3-3 with Patrik Schick in for Cengiz Under.
“Eusebio tried to find more physicality from Patrik and also he’s gained confidence lately, so he deserves to start today. Cengiz Under attacks the space more, but he too I think will have his moment during the match.”
Roma were warming up yesterday with shirts that had the message ‘Forza Sean’ for Liverpool fan Sean Cox, who remains in critical condition after an attack by two Giallorossi ultras outside Anfield.
“Rivalry is a very different thing to violence. We have to stay close to the Liverpool fan, as he is a human being, a person, and we are all human beings.”
