Former Juventus man Luciano Moggi has claimed that Giampiero Ventura was set for Lazio before Italy and described the CT as “unfit and a dud.”

Ventura’s failure to take Italy to the World Cup has led to most of the country calling for his head, and Moggi believes the 69-year-old may never have succeeded Antonio Conte if Claudio Lotito got his way.

“This unfit Coach was Lotito’s dud,” the ex-general manager told Libero.

“He was due to go to Lazio after Bielsa’s ‘no’, but because of the FIGC’s difficulty in finding a CT, he was offered to the national team and the Biancocelesti went on to call back Simone Inzaghi, who had been rerouted from Salernitana.”
