José Mourinho and Henrik Mkhitaryan have repaired their relationship since the Manchester United days and the Armenian could now be offered a new contract by Roma.

The former Arsenal man did not get on well with the Portuguese coach during their time together in the North West of England, but things have changed during the last few months in Rome. Mkhitaryan put his head down and worked hard, impressing Mourinho with his character and desire on the pitch.

As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, Mkhitaryan seemed destined for a move to Russia but the recent invasion has ruled out that idea, leaving the player’s future uncertain.

Due to his now positive relationship with Mourinho, Roma are considering offering Mkhitaryan a new contract, likely a one-year extension with the same €3.5m net per season salary as today.

The 33-year-old Armenian winger has made 32 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2463 minutes. In that time, he’s scored three goals and provided seven assists. Earlier today, Mkhitaryan announced his decision to retire from international football in order to focus on his club work.
