Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits Inter were not ‘good enough’ in the last Milan derby and hopes to win his first Supercup in Italy.

The former Armenia international spoke at a press conference on the eve of Wednesday’s Supercoppa derby against Milan.

“We played well against Barcelona and Napoli. Milan are a strong team, but we are confident we’ll do well,” he said.

“I play because I can help the team. If I am not ready, I don’t play, I always try to give my best. I’m happy to have spent three years at Roma, but now I am at Inter and I hope to win something here. I’ve left a club I loved, but I am happy to be here playing for a trophy.

“I’ve played many finals, but this is my first Supercoppa. It’s very important for the club and my career,” continued the 33-year-old.

“We were not good enough in the last derby with Milan. The start of the season wasn’t good, but we beat strong teams like Barcelona and Napoli and we can win this time.

“There are no favourites, we’ll play our game and we don’t care about the rest. If we play well, nothing can stop us.”
