Massimiliano Mirabelli believes Inter have been too soft on Mauro Icardi. “I wouldn’t have let him step foot at San Siro either.”

Mirabelli knows Icardi well, having been Inter’s chief scout before he became Milan’s sporting director in the summer of 2017, although the 49-year-old is currently out of work.

“In my opinion, it’s true that Inter played well and always had a two-goal advantage, but I saw a Milan side who did well,” he told Sportitalia, referring to Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina.

“In my opinion, it’s true that Inter played well and always had a two-goal advantage, but I saw a Milan side who did well,” he told Sportitalia, referring to Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina.

“It wasn’t easy for them after Inter took the lead immediately and then they went a second goal behind.

“If Cutrone’s shot had gone in, we’d be talking about another derby right now. It was a good game, although Inter, who played the perfect game, deserved the win.

“I think Icardi is a great player and a very good lad, but I don’t think anyone comes before a club, especially when it comes to Inter and their millions of fans.

“Maybe I would’ve been even tougher than Inter. Not only would I have taken the armband off him, but I wouldn’t have let him step foot at San Siro either.

“For that reason, I’m in total agreement with Marotta. Wanda? I’d have dealt with her in five minutes.

“Her triple role, of wife, mother and agent, leads to several problems. After that, some things need to talked about in appropriate places, not on TV.

“I wouldn’t have used an iron first. It would have been harder. Me in Ausilio’s place? No, he’s been there for 20 years. He’s now a pillar for them and he’ll stay there for another 20!”
