Former Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli admits he has been left ‘a bit disappointed’ by Hakan Calhanoglu but insists Suso ‘can’t be questioned’.

Calhanoglu was one of Mirabelli’s big-money buys at Milan in the summer of 2017, but the attacking midfielder is generally considered to have performed below expectations at San Siro.

“Calhanoglu? I’m a bit disappointed in him. He had a good game on Sunday, but overall I expected more from him,” Mirabelli told Sportitalia.

However, the 49-year-old leapt to the defence of Suso, who remains without a goal or an assist since January.

“Suso? We’re used to seeing him do very good things. I believe that right now he’s not feeling good, or at least he hasn’t been,” he argued.

“Jesus can’t be questioned. He’s important, even when he isn’t at the top of his game.”
