“I went into this knowing it would be tough, but also that we are only halfway through. It’s a journey that today sees us having different results to what was expected, but we believe in the work we’ve done.

“This is a young squad with a future ahead of it. You can’t think of winning titles and dominating everywhere, but we can lay the foundations for the imminent future.”
The Rossoneri sacked Coach Vincenzo Montella and promoted Gattuso from the Primavera youth team.
“I know Rino and we believe in his work. As well as being a great man, he is also a great Coach. It’s not just about grit, I promise we’ll hear people talking about him over the next few years.
“It was difficult at the start and I remember some were a little perplexed in the first few days. It’s true that we haven’t achieved anything yet, but I do believe we are becoming a team. We might win or not, but we are a team.
“Rino has brought everyone together again in an extraordinary way. He might not have much experience as a Coach, but he proved that he was born great.
“The training methodology has changed under Gattuso. We knew that we could run into a few embarrassing situations, as the lads were really tired, but it was necessary to build that stamina.”
