Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was disappointed that Lazio failed to pick up any points in their 2-1 loss to Inter tonight.

The Biancocelesti went behind after only 30 minutes following an opening goal from Alessandro Bastoni, but talismanic forward Ciro Immobile pulled back an equaliser only five minutes later to bring things level.

Despite the team’s solid performance, however, they couldn’t find a second and Milan Skriniar headed home the Nerazzurri’s advantage in the 67th minute, securing all three points for Simone Inzaghi’s side.

Speaking in an interview with Lazio Style Radio after the loss to Inter, Milinkovic-Savic first expressed his regret at the dropped points.

“It’s a shame because we deserved the draw at least. We had our chances. But now we have to think about the next match.”

He touched on the Biancocelesti squad’s condition heading into the second half of the season.

“Playing three days ago helped us. That’s why we were in good shape in the second half. We’re growing and we’re starting to do what the coach wants us to do.”

The Lazio midfielder spoke about various missed chances in the loss to Inzaghi’s side.

“It was a good cross, but I wasn’t in a good position so I took it badly. I didn’t get a good header at the end either. Maybe it could have been a draw. We could have taken a point.”

Finally, Milinkovic-Savic analysed the loss to Inter and the takeaways from the match.

“In the second half they sat high and every ball we stole we had space, but we were sat deep. We tried to play the game the coach asked us to play.

“I can say that we played a good game. Today we leave the pitch with our heads held high. We mustn’t lose heart.”

Lazio’s loss means that they still sit 8th in the Serie A table after 21 games, with 32 points. They are six points behind 5th place Juventus.
