Milan midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko has critisiced the behaviour of the police after he was filmed being pulled over and searched by police.

A video circulated on social media of the Frenchman and being pressed up against a car while a police officer frisked him before realising he had the wrong person.

The Milan police headquarters rejected claims of racism in the aftermath of the incident, suggesting Bakayoko and the other man in his car fitted the profile of people the police were searching for – a Black man in an SUV, wearing a green t shirt – following disturbances the previous evening.

On Wednesday, Bakayoko broke his silence with a series of Instagram videos in which he said: “The issue is not the error. Anyone can make an error. It was the way they acted.

“Myself and my companion found ourselves a metre away from a gun. They clearly put us in danger regardless of whether they had their reasons.

“The situation would have been much worse had I not stayed calm, had I not had the opportunity to do the job I do and to have been recognised in time.”

Following the incident, a spokesperson for the National Association of Police Officers, praised Bakayoko for his behaviour, and labelled him a “model citizen.”

The video circulated on social media earlier this week but is believed to have originally been filmed on July 3.

  1. So, can we get Azzkikr’ azz kicked off already?

The entire footballing world iss united against racism.

There’s no space for this dude in football. Go be a Chelsea fan with the other scum.

  2. Yesterday, he was a model citizen. Today he is a whiner.

Of course the situation would be worse if you hadn’t stayed calm! That is true for every person, in every encounter with police, on Earth.

  3. LUIGI.

    Poor poor comment.

NOBODY on this earth no matter the circumstances enjoys being stopped by the police when they’re innocent, and especially when they happen to be carrying guns. It is completely normal that he isn’t happy.

  4. @Vinnie…

So, yours is the typical progressive answer to almost any controversial issue that arises…censorship.

What is with the modern groupthink preference as a default mechanism toward discussing socio economic and political matters?

  5. So, for all the SJ warriors who have ALL the appropriately acceptable answers to every real life situation that arises, what should the Milanese police have done? Nothing?

If police follow through with invrstigating someone who fits a profile of interest then the default argument is to claim that police acted out of a “racist” predisposition.

If the police do nothing, then they are criticized for dereliction of duty. As my father correctly said…” You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t!” Therein lies the problem with the progressive flakes…easy to criticize like armchair quartebacks, but short on practical solutions.

The police did their job. Nothing more. Period.

  6. @DB Milan

Yes, Progressive Flakes would, in fact, be a great name for cereal. And it’s a name that still accurately describes SJ warriors who find it easier to armchair criticize police duties snd responsibilities to investigate people who fit active profiles without offering any constructive solutions to the problems that they so easily point out.

Criticism is easy while offering constructive solutions toward resolving said problems is much harder, indeed. The former, progressive flakes can easily accomplish. It’s the latter toward which they typically and primarily fall short.

Again, the police did their job. Period.
