Now that Milan have resolved the Charles De Ketelaere situation, their next port of call is picking up a new defender, with Japhet Tanganga and Abdou Diallo the top two candidates.

The Rossoneri’s summer transfer window has been a little slow following their Scudetto winning campaign last season, but things are looking up now that they’ve managed to iron out an agreement for the Belgian talent. Milan also want to strengthen their defence a little, giving Stefano Pioli more flexibility at the back.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Tanganga is still a top option for Milan and the two parties have been in talks for weeks now, with the player totally willing to make the move to Italy. The Rossoneri still haven’t agreed figures with Tottenham, however.

The other main candidate alongside the Englishman is PSG’s Diallo, who has been appreciated by the Milanese club for some time. New coach Christophe Galtier is not a fan of the 26-year-old Senegalese defender, so a move to Milan is possible this summer.

  1. What a waste of time and money when we already had Gabba. I’d add that Gabbia could’ve be one of our most important players in the next decade. He could’ve been our 4th choice CB. Someone willing to sit on the bench and not creating problems, who knows the club. Now every single transfer window we’ll need to find a 4th choice CB. It’s a waste of time and money.

  2. @Maldini’sHeir
I agree, but I wonder if Gabbia is content to be a 4th choice player, especially at such a young age when playing time is necessary to development.

  3. @ PrimoCalcio If you look at the way the transfer window has been going Maldini & Co made it clear that they wanted a CB ie did not want Gabbia. I could sort of understand the Botman saga if he was as good as people say but when they lost out out on him became this desperate Anyone-But-Gabbia search. It’s so often the case where clubs are desperate to find anyone other than their youth team players.

  4. I’m not particularly high on these choices but Milan have done a good job recently identify talent at the position with Kjaer, Tomori, and Kalulu all coming with varying degrees of concern about their abilities.

  5. @ nyr2k2 You mean three players who were vital to our success last season which relied on a solid defence? I’m sure whatever imaginary players you have in mind would’ve done better.

  6. Two low level players. I guess only thing they have going is there both foreigners
    Milan loves foreigners
Italy have become a joke. No wonder they can’t beat Switzerland in two times.
