Sven Botman, one of Milan’s top targets for the summer, looked back at the January transfer window and touched on his plans for the future.

The 22-year-old Dutch centre back attracted the attention of the Rossoneri following his strong performances for Lille over the last two years. He was a regular in the team that won the French league title last year and he’s continued to prove himself this season.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Botman first reflected on what happened during the January transfer window.

“I accepted the situation. There were opportunities to leave. But we also had the Champions League, my first Champions League. And we were in a good position in Ligue 1. I think these offers will come back.”

The 22-year-old Dutch defender then commented on if this will be his last season with Lille.

“I’ll see. If things go as planned, then yes. But first of all I want to finish this season well. The club deserves it. After that, we’ll see. I haven’t decided anything.”

Botman, who has also been linked with a move to the newly enriched Newcastle United, is contracted to Lille until 2025 and would cost somewhere in the region of €30m.

The Dutch centre back has made 29 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2578 minutes. In that time, he’s scored three goals and provided one assist, helping the side keep 10 clean sheets.
