The Sven Botman tug-of-war is far from over, as it’s reported although Newcastle United agreed terms with Lille, the defender wants Milan instead.

The centre-back had already been in the middle of a bidding war in the January transfer window, but LOSC had at the time refused to make any sale.

Now the summer has come around and Newcastle seem prepared to pay the €35m asking price, according to the Telegraph.

However, Tuttomercatoweb claim that while the Magpies have the upper hand with his club, the same is not true of the player.

Botman would prefer to play in the Champions League and have a chance of competing for silverware, so is drawn to Milan after they won the Serie A title for the first time in 11 years.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also shown an interest in Dutch international defender Botman, who is only 22 years old and a product of the legendary Ajax academy.

Milan might also have another advantage over Newcastle, as they are on the verge of signing midfielder Renato Sanches from Lille for €18m.
