Denzel Dumfries could be the solution for Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter, as it’s reported the right-back could be heading to Chelsea.

It is no secret now that Lukaku is pushing to come back to San Siro, having realised his mistake in forcing a transfer to Stamford Bridge last summer.

As Chelsea paid €115m for the Belgium international, the only way he can return is on loan or with some sort of exchange deal.

Names mentioned as being of interest to Thomas Tuchel included Lautaro Martinez, Alessandro Bastoni or Milan Skriniar.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper, the most likely candidate in this situation would be Dumfries.

The Dutch international only joined Inter a year ago as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi, who in turn lasted only one season before he was sold to PSG at a massive profit.

Inter paid €13.7m to get Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven, whereas now his value on the transfer market is placed at circa €40m.

The 26-year-old impressed with five goals and seven assists in 45 competitive matches for the Nerazzurri.

The Nerazzurri are already hot on the chase for a new right wing-back, Raoul Bellanova from Cagliari.

8 thought on “Dumfries could be Inter key to recalling Lukaku from Chelsea”
  1. Dumfries is very limited! Has the athleticism and will but not much else! Prefer he stays at inter

  2. Dumfries is an awful player. Other than speed, he has nothing. 40m? Lol he does not even worth 20m

  3. Clueless people in the comment section. The same people who’ll in turn praise the highly overrated Theo Hernandez.

  4. Hilarious, but that’s how Inter works – sell an up and coming talent for an overrated traitor who consistently fails in big games.

  5. @ frankie. There must be no big games in Italy anymore because Rom won the league last year in Italy.
