Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is confident that he’ll be fit enough to join the France squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

The 27-year-old shot stopper suffered a calf injury whilst on international duty back in September, leaving him sidelined for the last six weeks. Maignan had hoped to return last month but suffered a calf muscle injury in training, delaying his return to action. Backup goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu has been filling in for the Frenchman at Milan.

As reported by L’Equipe, Maignan is in constant contact with the France national team’s medical staff and is confident that his recovery is going well. The 27-year-old is expected to be included in Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad, which is due to be announced tomorrow.

Maignan was the best goalkeeper in Serie A last season, keeping 17 clean sheets and conceding only 21 goals across his 32 Serie A appearances with the Rossoneri.
