Multiple sources all give the same version of events in today’s meeting at Casa Milan, which involved the Coach, directors Leonardo, Ivan Gazidis and Paolo Maldini.

It was decided that the club will stand by Gattuso until the end of the season, as there are only four rounds left in the Serie A campaign and they are out of the Coppa Italia.

The quartet discussed how to achieve the objective of fourth place in Serie A and agreed there would not be a training retreat for the squad.

The training regime will remain as it is.

However, Gattuso’s future may well be outside of Milan regardless of the results achieved in this final month.

According to Sport Mediaset, the club is evaluating former Roma and Sassuolo Coach Di Francesco for the role.

He could not be hired this season, as the rules in Italy bar tacticians from working for more than one club in the same league during one campaign.

Di Francesco was fired by Roma last month to bring in Claudio Ranieri as caretaker, but had taken them to the Champions League semi-final last year.
