Milan could be set to compete with Roma for the signature of Manuel Pasqual should the defender leave Fiorentina, reports suggest.

The Italy international is out of contract at the end of the season, whilst the player’s agent recently revealed he hasn’t yet spoken to the Viola about a renewal.

Roma are believed to be tracking the 32-year-old with a possible January move in mind, but now Tuttosport is suggesting that Pippo Inzaghi’s Milan is another viable destination.

The Turin-based newspaper believes that Inzaghi has asked the Rossoneri for reinforcements at left-back in January, and the club has identified Pasqual, as well as Leonel Vangioni of River Plate.

Vangioni is reportedly highly regarded by Milan, but would cost in excess of €5m, with River hesitant to sell the 27-year-old ahead of the Copa Libertadores.

This had led the San Siro side to closely monitor Pasqual’s contract situation, apparently with the benefit in mind of his Serie A experience and that he would not face the same acclimatisation issues that may affect Vangioni.

Tuttosport states that Pasqual’s agent has now met with Fiorentina officials, but there have been no developments in the player’s contract situation as yet.
