Mattia Destro looks likely to go back to Roma, as Milan would only take up their option for half the agreed price.

The striker arrived in the January transfer window on loan with an option to buy for €16m.

He has scored only two Serie A goals and was dropped to the bench for this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Milan are unsure about keeping Destro and would only do so for around €8m.

That is not a figure Roma are likely to accept just six months after the deal was struck for €16m.

Similarly, Destro is reportedly not sure he wants to stay on at San Siro, especially as it seems they won’t qualify for Europe.

Considering Roma’s difficulties with Seydou Doumbia and Victor Ibarbo, Destro could well be welcomed back into the fold for next season.
