The Spanish giants offered a direct swap deal involving their fringe players Nuri Sahin and Lassana Diarra, but Milan CEO Adriano Galliani snubbed this out of hand as the Rossoneri would only consider a cash bid.
While the Rossoneri have no interest in inheriting Sahin or Diarra from Real, a deal could be easier to negotiate if it involves Kaka.
The Brazilian superstar was widely acknowledged as the world’s best player during his spell at Milan, but his career has stalled since joining Real in a mega €65m deal in 2009.
Real are willing to release Kaka from his contract if he accepts waiving certain fees that are owed to him, paving the way for a return to Milan.
Coach Jose Mourinho, Inter’s former boss, could use Kaka’s contractual situation as a bargaining tool to land Boateng’s signature in the hope that the two players eventually swap clubs.
Boateng has emerged as a top transfer target for Real as they are aware that Milan will listen to realistic offers for their top players due to financial concerns this summer.
