Ignazio Abate is another to revel in Milan’s new atmosphere under Pippo Inzaghi, as he updates on his contract situation.

The Rossoneri have begun the season well and there is a lot of positivity surrounding the new Coach’s impact, as echoed by Abate today.

“Our team reflects its Coach and Inzaghi has brought enthusiasm and rules,” the full-back has told Il Giorno today.

“Last season [with Clarence Seedorf] some had some bad habits, they arrived at Milanello just to punch in and then go home.

“Now it's different. Pippo is a tough, a demanding technician who asks for mutual respect. In the past this was not so obvious.”

“And Balotelli’s exit? It has changed the spirit of the group. We reflect the soul of Inzaghi – you can see it from the bench when our teammates went crazy and entered the field to embrace.

“What has changed tactically? We defend as a team with attackers who track back a lot. With Lazio we defended very deep and we hit on the break, with Parma however, we controlled the game.”

Next up for Milan is joint League-leaders Juventus.

“Juventus are the best team, their value is ultimately reflected in the standings – they have won three league titles, as we all know. But in 90 minutes anything can happen.”

Abate’s future at San Siro isn’t so assured, as he has yet to renew his current contract, which expires next June.

“My agent is talking with the club. Milan knows my requirements, Galliani is satisfied with my work and a solution will be found.

“Then there are many factors that could change things. What hurt me was that I would read the figures I have asked for in order to sign. Figures that are far removed from reality.”
