Milan scouts sent to observe the South American U-20 Championship were left seriously impressed by Vasco da Gama midfielder Marlon Gomes, local reports detail.

The 19-year-old Brazilian midfielder has featured in all but one of the Selecao U-20’s games at the tournament, impressing as both a trequartista and a mezzala. The teenager has already made 18 first team appearances for Vasco de Gama, scoring two goals and providing two assists in that time.

Reports from Brazil detail how Milan scouts have been closely following Gomes’ work at the South American U-20 Championship and held a preliminary meeting to understand if a move to Italy was a possibility.

Whilst no official offer has been made yet, it’s clear that the Rossoneri are fans of the 19-year-old midfielder and things could develop in the coming months, with the club keen to continue bringing in young talents for relatively low fees.

Milan recently completed a deal for 24-year-old Colombian goalkeeper Devis Vásquez, signing him from Paraguayan side Guaraní for around €470,000.
