The 2023 MLS season is ready to kick-off this weekend and 10 former Serie A players will take to the pitch for various teams in the coming weeks.

The most famous of these is likely former Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne, who joined Toronto FC on a free transfer last summer. The 31-year-old has scored six goals and provided two assists across 12 games for the club since his arrival.

Another familiar face from Serie A is Federico Bernardeschi, who also joined Toronto on a free transfer in July of last year. The former Juventus man has found a little more success in North America, netting eight goals and providing three assists in 14 matches.

Giorgio Chiellini joined his compatriots in making a move to the MLS last summer, although he headed for the West Coast with LAFC. He showed off his usual humour and class across his first 13 games for the club.

Other players who may be recognised from their time in Italy include former Parma and Empoli man Gaston Brugman, ex-Torino forward Josef Martinez, former Juventus winger Douglas Costa, ex-Chievo Verona man Michael Bradley, once-Inter forward Xherdan Shaqiri, Juventus youth product Giacomo Vrioni and former Atalanta winger Emiliano Rigoni.
