Milan faltered at the final minute against their city rivals, but who gets the blame or praise in Football Italia’s Player Ratings?

Words: Ciro Di Brita – @Ciruzzo36

Gianluigi Donnarumma – 5.5

After some early decisions to punch, he was forced into getting down quick to push an Ivan Perisic header around the post mid-way through the first half. Was a spectator until the end when he came out and misjudged the cross that led to the winner.

Gianluigi Donnarumma – 5.5

After some early decisions to punch, he was forced into getting down quick to push an Ivan Perisic header around the post mid-way through the first half. Was a spectator until the end when he came out and misjudged the cross that led to the winner.

Davide Calabria – 6

The youngster is growing with every game and again put in another decent display. Shown a yellow for what was a necessary foul by taking down Marcelo Brozovic on a dangerous Nerazzurri counter attack just before the break.

Mateo Musacchio – 6

Was excellent until injury time, when he lost Icardi in box. Thought he had opened the scoring and finally got his first goal in Serie A, but was denied by the linesman’s flag.

Alessio Romagnoli – 7

Won everything that came his way and put in a powerful showing at the back. Made a fantastic goal-denying block on Icardi five minutes before the interval, but unfortunately for Milan fans was out of the box for Icardi’s goal.

Ricardo Rodriguez – 6

The Swiss full-back is far too tentative in possession of the ball and never really lined up with his teammates in the forward areas. Decent enough defensive performance, but not much else.

Franck Kessie – 7

Good game in midfield, had a lot of work to do and tried his best to make something happen. Made one massive block on a piledriver from the edge of the box.

Lucas Biglia – 6

Booked for a clumsy challenge on Radja Nainggolan early in the game and was walking on egg shells from then on.

Giacomo Bonaventura – 6

Just like Kessie, his orders were to give nothing away at the back and try to counter when the opportunity arose. Never truly affected the game.

Suso – 6

A quiet game by the Spaniard, who was frustrated in having to defend more than attack. Became the fourth Milan player to go in the book for a pull-back on Kwadwo Asamoah.

Gonzalo Higuain – 6

Barely got a touch in the first half and even less in the second.

Hakan Calhanoglu – 6

Played most of his football tonight in his own half. Put in a decent shift, but didn’t influence the game in any way. Booked just before the break for dissent.

Substitutes:

Patrick Cutrone – 6

Came in for Calhanoglu and tried in vain to get something going on up front.

Tiemoue Bakayoko – 6

Looked leggy when he came on and picked up a booking in injury time.

Ignazio Abate – N/A

Replaced the tiring Calabria in injury time.
