Samir Handanovic 6

Finally got his gloves dirty in the 80th minute when he had to get down and smother a weak enough Suso effort.

Sime Vrsaljko – 6

Got the nod to start at right-back over Danilo D’Ambrosio, kept Hakan Calhanoglu and Ricardo Rodriguez quiet.

Stefan de Vrij – 7

Was sturdier than a Range Rover at the back and never gave Gonzalo Higuain a sniff. Hit the crossbar when he hooked a shot over his head in the first half.

Milan Skriniar – 7

Along with De Vrij and the rest of the backline, kept Milan down to just one decent attempt on target over the 90 minutes.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 6

Was guilty of a few lapses in concentration, one on the half-way line almost allowed Suso to break free towards goal, but kept plugging away the whole game.

Matias Vecino – 7

Had to cover a lot of ground when trying to link the defence with the attack and was industrious rather than incisive. Although he did swing in the cross for Mauro Icardi’s goal at the death.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6

Another player that seemed to be playing while carrying a knock. Got back in time to thwart a goal-bound Higuain effort near the end of the first, half but struggled to impose himself on the match and was guilty of giving the ball away cheaply.

Matteo Politano – 6

Snatched at a shot inside the area in the second half that bounced harmlessly wide. Booked for a professional foul on Giacomo Bonaventura late in the second half.

Radja Nainggolan – 5

Had to come off at the half-hour mark as he never really recovered from the Lucas Biglia tackle earlier in the game.

Ivan Perisic – 5

Sacrificed himself for the team by playing through the pain barrier. Tried to get on to the ball, but was more effective in the defensive side of the game rather than the attacking.

Mauro Icardi – 8

Scored with what was probably his first touch of the game, but it was ruled offside. Popped up again to win the Derby Della Madonnina in injury time with a header, as everyone else misjudged the cross.

Substitutes:

Borja Valero – 7

Replaced Nainggolan and used every ounce of his experience in keeping his side ticking over in midfield.

Keita Balde Diao – 6

Came on for Perisic, who seemed to be struggling with a knock, for half an hour and was anonymous in the final third.

Antonio Candreva – N/A

Got a few minutes at the end and was involved in the build up to the winner.
