Reports in France suggest Milan have offered defender Philippe Mexes to Olympique Marseille.

The 33-year-old has made just one Serie A start under Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic this season, despite having his contract renewed in the summer.

According to France Football, the Rossoneri have offered Marseille the chance to take the centre-back, whose contract is expiring at the end of the season.

It’s not clear if a fee would be involved, though it seems unlikely given Mexes’ age and the fact he can leave for free in the summer.

However, as revealed by his agent, Mexes is a favourite of Diavolo President Silvio Berlusconi, who blocked a move to Fiorentina this summer.

The Frenchman had been keen to join the Viola, knowing he wasn’t part of Mihajlovic’s plans, but “Mr Berlusconi didn’t want him to leave, he’s fond of Philippe”.
