However, following an impressive win over Fiorentina last weeked, the Coach wants to continue the positive trend against Empoli.

“My future?” Mihajlovic considered in his pre-match Press conference.

“I have a contract, and after that the club will decide. I have a clear conscience, I go on my way.

“I’d like to see more consistency. Against Fiorentina, I saw 11 lads with the desire that was key to winning.

“These things, like generosity, cynicism and desire to win depend on us. When you play with these elements, you have a better chance of winning.

“The team is growing. In respect of the past four years, after 20 games we have the most points of any Milan. The fact we could have had more points makes me angry.

“We’re growing, but we can and we must improve a lot further. In recent games we’ve created a lot, and if we were more ruthless we’d be higher up the table.

“We’ve always had an average of at least two points per game.”

Mihajlovic was less effusive, however, when asked about the transfer market.

“I don’t speak about players I don’t coach.”
