With FC Porto pulling the plug on Medhi Taremi, Milan will still loan Lorenzo Colombo to Monza, so look to Chelsea for Mason Burstow, Real Betis star Willian Jose or could give Divock Origi another chance.

The negotiations with Porto for Taremi had seemingly reached an agreement until intermediaries suddenly changed the personal terms, prompting the clubs to abandon the move this evening.

Nonetheless, Sky Sport Italia insist that Milan will stand by their promise to send Colombo to Adriano Galliani’s Monza on loan.

The young centre-forward first had to extend his contract today and then will have the Monza medical tomorrow morning.

It leaves the Rossoneri needing reinforcements in attack, as there is no real understudy for the ageing Olivier Giroud.

According to Sky Sport Italia, there are currently two options to fill that role and neither of them will exactly enthral the Milan fans.

The first is 20-year-old Chelsea academy talent Burstow, who would arrive on loan, most likely with an option to buy.

Another alternative is to give Origi another opportunity after a dismal first season at San Siro, having been frozen out all summer while they searched for a new club.

However, Calciomercato.com come up with a more intriguing theory, which is a deadline day lunge for 31-year-old Willian Jose.

He joined Real Betis in 2021, initially on loan, and scored 12 goals in the last two seasons.

Another candidate is AZ Alkmaar centre-forward Vangelis Pavlidis.
